One of the most important beliefs that I have is that families are forever. This belief has been the subject of numerous talks during General Conference, in the Ensign, New Era, the Friend and other official church publications. The subject of family, especially eternal or forever families, is so important that it is taught through song, story and movies. Children sing “Families can be together Forever” in primary and are excited to share this comforting principle with everyone they know.
David Peterson shows us how a child can become so excited to become part of a “forever family”. The days leading up to forever can be counted down, but drag on for what seems like forever. In the story a little boy has been waiting and now asks every day, “How long until forever?” Every day there are new activities and answers that precede a trip to the temple to become a forever family.
Tera Grasser has captured the emotions and excitement of the family that is waiting for forever to come. The colors are vibrant and bring her paintings to life. Her attention to detail is meticulous and that helps to tell the story.
As I read this picture book with my youngest two children, they were as excited to see how the story ended as the family in the story was. This is a wonderful collaboration between two very talented individuals, one that I hope is going to happen again. 10 Days until Forever is dedicated for family, friends and anyone who hopes for forever.
This book has found a special place in our personal library and I hope that it finds one in yours. It is simple enough for beginning readers to read and profound enough that everyone will enjoy it. Copyright 2011
